BigTime Winter, 2007 Provides Dozens of New Features.

BigTime 2007 Focuses on making the industry's simplest solution even easier to use.

CHICAGO. March, 2007. Edison's Attic announced today the release of the latest version of their flagship product: BigTime. Edison's approach to updates is an innovative blend of regular "version updates" that are split up into micro-releases throughout the year. This approach gives BigTime customers the stability of a desktop system with the instant access to incremental updates and improvements that are typically only available to ASP software.

BigTime's newest release includes a number of important updates.

Grid Timesheet Formats
This new timesheet format provides an enhanced version of BigTime's weekly timesheets. The new timesheet format is AJAX-based, allowing a number of advanced features to users:

BigTime - QuickBooks Timesheet

Combined "submitted/un-submitted" views.

Instead of showing users only un-submitted time in their current timesheet screen, users can now see both submitted and unsubmitted time all on one screen.

Improved Editing.

The grid timesheet format is AJAX-based, so it provides in-line editing instead of relying on a separate edit pane when a user wants to edit the detail on their timesheet.
BigTime - QuickBooks Timesheet

Notes flags.

Users can quickly spot which entries have notes and which ones don't by turning on the "show notes" flag.
BigTime - QuickBooks Timesheet

Memorized Timesheet rows.

Now, users can choose to memorize timesheet rows that they use from week to week, so those rows will remain in their timesheet until they remove the bookmark. This provides a way to copy timesheet rows from week to week without requiring you to copy hourly data.
BigTime 3.0 Menus/Screens
The 3.0 navigational system is now in full release, giving BigTime users access to a much-improved menu system, shortcut menu items to help them jump from screen to screen, and much more. Users have access to 3 different navigational themes, and more are in the works. That feature allows customers to tailor BigTime's look-and-feel to an extent not possible with traditional desktop software.

"It really turns BigTime into a website," says Jake Matyas, Edison's director of customer care. "Companies can take the core system pages and tweak them or change them or just get rid of them, and they can do it by creating their own theme. Then, as we issue updates, the system updates only the core files and leaves the customer's theme files untouched."

BigTime Payroll Export
With the Winter, 2007 release, BigTime's development team is also releasing a new (optional) add-on component. The Payroll Export system will support ADP online payroll users or Paychex electronic payroll users. The add-on, priced at $595 for installation and configuration, bolts right into BigTime so exporting data for payroll is a breeze.

Automatic Rules for Overtime.

Overtime is based on company-wide rules and doesn't rely on user entry. BigTime's payroll engine calculates overtime based on a firm's specific rules. The system support standard 40+/week overtime and California (8+/day) rules right out of the box.
BigTime - QuickBooks Timesheet

Support for True Weekly OT.

Federal guidelines specify that overtime should be based on a calendar week. BigTime helps firms comply with this requirement by using timesheet history to calculate a true 40+/week number, even if a firm's payroll periods don't match up to calendar weeks.
BigTime - QuickBooks Timesheet

User-Configurable payroll codes.

BigTime's unique offering includes a free implementation session, so a service analyst can help customers define payroll codes like sick time or vacation based on a user's project or category selection. That configuration is included in the $595 fixed fee price on the product. Then, customers can add or adjust those codes using a simple code management interface.
BigTime - QuickBooks Timesheet

Support for ADP/Paychex specific formats.

BigTime's payroll engine will produce an ADP or a Paychex ready format. Payroll systems that accept a CSV or XLS file can also be supported.
Invoicing Engine Improvements.
The BigTime invoicing screens have been adjusted to make editing and reviewing invoices even easier, and the engine comes with a host of new features to make invoicing in BigTime an even better option for QuickBooks users.

BigTime - QuickBooks Timesheet

Invoice EMailing.

BigTime supports invoice emails and permanent PDF records, so users can manage distribution directly from BigTime.
BigTime - QuickBooks Timesheet

Approved/Unapproved Support.

For firms that use timesheet and expense review and approval, BigTime now allows administrators to create invoices for ONLY approved time or expenses.
BigTime - QuickBooks Timesheet

Ajax-based Inline editing.

The invoice editing screen has been radically redesigned to take advantage of the latest in browser technologies. Editing invoices is easier than ever before!
