System RequirementsUsers Can Access BigTime from PC's or MAC's.
BigTime is a browser-based solution, so you don't need anything on your PC's but an internet browser. We're compatible with Internet Explorer for the PC (6.0 or higher), Safari for the MAC, or FireFox (both PC and MAC versions). No PC or Software is Required for Your Users
As long as your users are on one of those browsers, they'll be able to login and use all of BigTIme's functionality. No "ActiveX" support is needed, either. So, both PC and MAC users can use the entire system.
Installation Requirements
BigTime is an IIS application, so you'll need to run it on a copy of Windows. Smaller offices can use WindowsXP (only the Pro version supports intranet applications like BigTime), but most firms just install it onto their corporate server (running Windows 2000 SP 3+ or Windows 2003 / Vista). No matter where you install BigTime, you should keep the following minimum requirements in mind:

512 MB of free RAM (e.g. - RAM not already required for other programs running as services on the computer). Obviously, the more people you have accessing the system, the more RAM you'll need to support all of those connections! |

20-30 GB of hard disk space. The hard disk space is principally used to store your corporate data. The more history you'd like to store, the more space that history will require. In addition, you may want to set aside disk space for things like "backup" copies of your database. |
Do I Need a Server?
If you're a smaller firm with no network "server" for your computers, then you can still install and use BigTime. A server isn't required to run the system, but all of the PCs (and/or MACs) in your office should at least be able to "see" each other. So, you'll need a network. Even if it's just a "peer-to-peer" network.
most of our customers install BigTime onto the corporate server, and most of our enterprise customers have a dedicated PC to run the BigTime system. While that's not required, enterprise IT professionals should consider the traffic their BigTime site will generate and plan accordingly.
Database Server Requirements
If you're planning on installing BigTime on your corporate SQL Server, then you should have SQL Server 2000 (SP 3+) or SQL 2005. BigTime will support either version of SQL Server. The desktop edition ships with a free copy of MSDE, and the workgroup server ships with a license SQL Server 2005 express.
